The entire train with all the lights shut off as seen, including on car #3161 (coupled to #3186) was most likely going back to Concourse Yard anyway, but you are correct as lights out were in common when they were in regular service. Too many numerous occasions and car numbers that I had encountered with that type of condition over the years back then.R-10 #3186, Bedford Park Boulevard, IND Concourse Line; August 8, 1980; Photo by Doug Grotjahn, Collection of Joe Testagrose. ![]() R-10 #3186, Rockaway Boulevard, IND Fulton Street Line; June 29, 1989; Photo by William A. Now in 2021, I see the R-179's with the recycled car numbers from the R-10's in service, including the set #3186-3187-3188-3189 assigned to the "C". This past weekend, it was operating coupled to set #3181-3180-3179-3178 on the shortened run between 168th Street and World Trade Center, the old "AA"/"K" local route. -William A.
