Originally the R40s and R42s were delivered with signs in the Standard font. After the GOH when new sign scrolls were installed with smaller letters, the font was still Standard. (The capital letters J, Q, and R, and the numeral 2, are the easiest to distinguish.)       Because the hook on the J was so small in Standard, they converted to new scrolls in Helvetica:   Some station signage is still in Standard:     Most now are in Helvetica:
