Re: Tuscarora Almanac for June 12

I did work the E for 4 straight picks, 2 years with a late AM penalty job in the mid 2000's with mostly R32's. Getting an R46 for a half trip was a treat.

The Phase II's NY Air Brake trains had a habit of holding 5 lbs. of air unless you put the brake handle into full release, wait a few seconds and bring it back to running release. They would sometimes stick in the self lapping mode when you would want to let off some air. At least the Westinghouse Controller was nice.

But from my beginning of making t/o, and others before me will attest, the cars bounced because they were too light for their trucks, although they were a bit better after GOH & air conditioning was added because that made them heavier.

With that said, air conditioning was spotty. They had a hard time remain cool with loads of passengers and doors cycling every few minutes. Lay the train up with hot cars: with doors remaining closed and no passengers inside, the cars were able to cool down.
