The way it came down to me was that since the motor trucks of the Qs were at the #1 end it would have meant that at the point where 2 Q units were couples, the weight o4 4 motors would have been concentrated in a short space putting undue stress on the el structure. Now it’s highly possible that the motor trucks could have been moved to the #2 ends of the motor cars so that they would be a little more than a full car length apart at their closest but why that wasn’t done I don’t know. Then what the Qs were returned to Myrtle, the trucks from the BUs being scrapped could have been reinstalled but for some reason that wasn’t done either. |
