Im looking at the Montauk Light rail project and the BQX as starter LRT systems.
The LIRR rows can accomidate light rail lines Brooklyn and Queens..with extensions to tje Bronx and Manhattan via various East river crossings.

Even Staten Island can get a piece via the Narrows Bridge.
