The 125th St Broadway line station was built as an elevated sta b/c in that area, the topography dips forming "Manhattan Valley". Engineers of the day concluded that due to the deep valley, to contiinue the line underground would require deep tunneling & steep grades. The elevated section of the line more or less kept the line level (and saved a ton of $$$). The ancient fault in the area wasn't a factor in this case. |
