One of the questions I have about the extension of the Nostrand Av Line is where will the subway infrastructure be in relation to the Bay Ridge Freight Line ROW? Without seeing it in person at the moment I can assume that the cut is deep enough so that the subway infrastructure can pass over it the way the 4 Ave subway passes over it in Bay Ridge. The subway infrastructure in the area of Flatbush is a lot shallower than the 4 Ave subway is so its possible it may clear. There have been reports that the subway infrastructure under Nostrand extends a few more blocks S/O the station and that it was visible at one time but was sealed off in the 1950s. There may be some truth to that since the entrance just past the bumping blocks of the station is “new” construction which does not match the original tile work. |
