Bill: SIRT cars were assigned to the Franklin Avenue Line on May 28, 1959. They usually ran only in shuttle service but could also be seen in the through service to Brighton Beach Coney Island on Sundays. IRT Lo-V's began running on the shuttle on September 21, 1959 and eventually displaced the SIRT cars. The Lo-V's remained in service until early 1961 when the SIRT cars returned and lasted until April 17, 1961. Thank to MR Linder for this information Larry, RedbirdR33 |
