My old landlady used to tell me that the fastest way to get to Manhattan back then was to jump on the LIRR train at the Woodhaven stop & you'd be in Manhattan in about a half hour...for 50 cents.That's an idea ... reopen Woodhaven. Everything looks intact, new street-level entrances would have to be added but that shouldn't be too expensive, a fraction of what it must be costing the LIRR to build the new Elmont station. |
