Service during the AM rush will last until December 14. Source: New York Division Bulletin /December 1964, article by Mr. Bernard Linder Tuscarora Almanac – January 13, 1980 – The Book of Service Changes Tuscarora Dispatch No. 13 January 1980 IRT Service Changes New Schedules for the IRT Division went into effect on January 13, 1980. The most notable features is the discontinuance of late night express service on the Lexington Avenue Line. No. 4 trains will make all local stops. No. 6 trains will now operate as shuttles between Pelham Bay Park and 125th Street. Trains will arrive and depart at the lower level platform and northbound trains will wrong rail through the river tunnel to 3rd Avenue in The Bronx. (This differs from the earlier 1930’s shuttle which turned back at 110th Street). All No.5 trains from either Dyre Avenue or East 241st Street will now operate as Thru-Expresses in The Bronx during rush hours in the direction of traffic. Midday No. 6 Pelham Bay Park trains will now run express on the Pelham Line in The Bronx. Express service will operate southbound from about 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM and northbound from 12:30 PM to 7 PM. That was nearly one out of three. It would take several years and a lot of hard work before the subway system would climb out of the pit.
