Re: Tuscarora Almanac for January 9

This is really a small point, but actually it was not the Lexington Avenue Line that was "extended under the East River through the Joralemon Street Tunnels to Brooklyn". The original 1904 subway had nothing to do with Lexington Avenue, as the east side leg ran under Fourth Avenue (now Park Avenue South) and Lafayette Street for the most part before being extended under the river.

I suppose that I could have written the Contract 2 Brooklyn Manhattan Rapid Transit Railroad line was extended under the East River.

Many might wonder what the hell I was talking about. The old timers certainly know this but some of the younger folks (those of you born after the great flood) might not.

The Almanac posting are not written as super detailed histories with footnotes although I usually include references. I try to make them accurate but also relevant to contemporary readers. Most would know immediately about the Lexington Avenue Line and the TA itself refers to it as such.
