This is really a small point, but actually it was not the Lexington Avenue Line that was "extended under the East River through the Joralemon Street Tunnels to Brooklyn". The original 1904 subway had nothing to do with Lexington Avenue, as the east side leg ran under Fourth Avenue (now Park Avenue South) and Lafayette Street for the most part before being extended under the river. |
