The projects replaced what had not been picked clean for scrap during WW II. The 159th St yard, itself, replaced the old 145th St el yard, located between what was then 7th & 8th Aves, in 1906. This yard had never been electrified and the locomotive repair shed and storage track in the north end of the yard were no longer needed. |
