Watson Tuscarora Almanac – October 28, 1956 – The Book of First Runs Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Baltimore & Ohio Railroad The B&O begins operation of a new passenger train to run between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The train is called “The Daylight Speedliner”, nos. 21 and 22. The usual consist will be five of the new Budd-built Rail Diesel Cars (RDC’s). Addendum: Jackson Park B Train added toe following: Special RDCs were ordered for this train; 2 coaches and 1 baggage diner coach for each. While longer trains would have "borrowed" existing RDC 1 coaches from the commuter pool, the only times I saw or rode the train was only 3 cars. Food in the diner was excellent as one would expect from B&O. It ran non-stop to 42nd Street-8th Avenue (lower level) where it picked up more fans. It proceeded south and revered on the track A-5 south of 34th Street. It then ran non-stop to the 155th Street Station. A second run was made on November 24 starting from 179th Street.
