Many of the lines people mention as alternatives, were actually meant to coexist with each other. Had the IND been connected to the BMT at Hudson Term, there were still other stairways to get off the IND platform and there is already a mezzanine for that station complex so there would have been no problem adding another stairway to the street. As for the lack of BMT Bway service to Montague, as I mentioned in my other post, with mayor Hylan's attitude towards the BMT cutting off part of the BMT to Montague was not even a consideration. Also at the time the Nassau St Line was under construction so all that would have happened would have been that tunnel passengers would end up going to Nassau St only a short distance from Bway anyhow. Tunnel passengers needing points farther up Bway could simply change at Canal St for trains coming off the bridge or lcls originating at City Hall. |
