Yes, I recall boarding streetcars at the underground Delancey Street loop, but I don't recall 8 loop tracks as on the design map. I recall two or three.

I am surprised that no floor plan of the lower level of the 9th Avenue barn has showed up. The motormen who used that barn before 1956 have probably all passed away. If the pillars holding up Delancey Street were positioned in the same era as the construction of the 9th Avenue barn, I would say that a loop was possible. I have absolutely no memory of Brooklyn PCC's backing up, a tricky manoeuver on a yard lead. Yet all the photos show the PCC's there nose out, ready for duty.
