I appreciate some of the background information behind the LIRR's decision. Looking at the LIRR's plans to eliminate Willis Avenue and 2nd Street crossings, and looking at Mineola's street layout, could a flyover beginning east of the Mineola overpass could be a practical solution? I understand that cost comes into play here, but I'm particularly interested in how steep the grade on such a flyover would have to be in order for it to get back down to grade level by say Jericho Turnpike on the Oyster Bay branch. |
