When those cars were delivered, they ran exclusively on the Hud Term - Newark runs replacing the red MP38s that had served that run from the beginning of Newark service. The rest of the H&M lines continued to use the older black cars until the arrival of the PA-1s which went to the Newark service displacing the Ks to the other services. According to the H&M crews I knew, the Ks were alternately referred to a “Grays” for their color or “speed cars” since they were faster than the rest of the fleet. |
