Those PRR and H&M cars which went into service in 1958 were notable in that they had air conditioning which had been tried on the NYC subway system without success. It would not be until 1966 when the TA purchased 10 new R-38 cars with air conditioning and 1969 when the TA finally made it standard on all new car purchases. I used to see those PATH cars on the WTC-Hoboken line in the 1970s. |
