"Famous myth….the downtown area, the LOOP, was named for the ‘L’ structures. FALSE."I believe what ChicagoPCCLCars is referring to is that cable car lines terminating downtown all used loops as opposed to stub terminals. The elevated loop opened in 1897 and the cable lines were gone only nine years later, in 1906. |
