From what I was told the IND color scheme was that the express stations would follow the colors of the spectrum even though in many places some of the colors are missing. The preceding local stations would display the color of the next express station. The patterning was from the north and the south terminals towards W4 St which was green. For some reason the IND seemed obsessed with green since the R-1/9s were painted that color, the background of the street entrance signs was green, the cubes on the top of the station entrance posts were green and even the track occupancy lights on the signal tower model boards were green instead of red which would be more logical or even white which the BMT used. |
