The biggest Amtrak hater was Reagan. He wanted to kill Amtrak outright.He made a speech one day saying that the Govt could give every man, woman & child Amtrak passenger a plane ticket as opposed to taking Amtrak and save money. Thankfully his plans were derailed (pun intended) |
