Re: Booth replace expired less than an month card?

Posted by Marc A. Rivlin on Mon Jan 20 23:17:01 2020, in response to Re: Booth replace expired less than an month card?, posted by Charles G on Thu Jan 16 19:00:02 2020.

I had an issue trading in empty expired and unexpired cards at booths a few months ago, back when the Seinfeld cards were in booths. Station agents seemed to be unable to do a trade in for cards that had expired unlimited ride fares on them, while I was able to trade those same cards, at least the expired ones, in machines without issues. More recently, I was told by someone that there was some kind of programming change with the last fare increase that affects trade-ins of cards that ever had unlimited rides on them in the past. The whole thing seems quirky. In the past, the only valid cards less than a year expired that I regularly could not trade in at the machine or booth have been AirTrain cards, that I'd have to trade in at an AirTrain machine, or cards with some kind of defect or error (usually cards the reader says have money on or at least ays are just expired, not "SEE AGENT" but the machine spits back). Those, I could mail in if they had money on them. I assume that PATH cards need to be traded in at PATH machines.
