But there are NIMBYs for the Airtrain too, yet Cuomo appears to be able to bulldoze through them. Plus, the fact that the report makes no mention of "community opposition" and instead points out community support from a transit "desert".Dunno about a 34th St subway - Herald Square is crowded enough as it is. :-S Getting a line through that and dealing with the East River tunnels nearby sounds like a pain, though the idea of a line that at least terminates at a major hub like Herald Square is a good one. I think it's a pretty good idea to turn the lower Montauk into a rapid transit line, though not necessarily part of the subway system. I was thinking either part of Triboro RX or a sibling to it, running on diesel power. |
