My father didn’t believe in automatics which in the 1950s were an option rather than standard equipment. He also avoided V8 engines, feeling that a 6 cylinder had enough power for his needs. Ha also disliked excessive chrome trim and ordered the least expensive 1956 Chevy the model 150. he was very upset when the car came in with a single strip of chrome and was told the while the 1955 model had no chrome at all except the bumpers, a small strip of chrome was now on the 1956 model. |
