I remember that it was partway through the R-32 order that they changed it to have door rubbers without the wider part. IIRC, you could still see that the door was designed for the wider rubbers, but the wide part had been filled in.

The R-42s were the first to have the grooved rubbers, with the R-44s having the ones with a good fit like today.
