Well for whats my own nostalgic remembrance, the R-42s and the Mod R-40s were a huge legion of the heartiest of the heartiest trains whatever tried to sink them.

Here's to their years out of Concourse on the "Dog" (D) in the 70's and 80's before the R-68s showed up to Brighten the Brighton Line.

In all my years watching NYCT(A) the only route I never saw the R-42's usually operated was the GG then G (i.e. "The Crosstown") though a few wandered there too.
