Posted by gbs on Sun Dec 1 22:01:44 2019, in response to Tuscarora Almanac for December 1, posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Sun Dec 1 12:45:41 2019. This is the same locations as the infamous Malbone Street Wreck which occurred on November 1, 1918 As this photo makes clear, this accident occurred near the site of the wreck of 1918, but not in the same location and not at all under the same circumstances. This train is switching from the south-bound track (the one in the 1918 wreck that takes sharp turns ahead) to the straighter north-bound track, and here the lead car collided with the embankment wall, not the tunnel wall as in 1918. This train was clearly not speeding out of control as in 1918, and this accident was not the operator's fault (though he might have still had to pee in a cup). ![]() |
