I was unaware of Brooklyn's Union Street car line, which appears to have been a handy crosstown route halfway between the Bergen St. and Ninth Street lines. It included a bridge over the canal, and the street may have been a bit wider than parallel streets. What were the terminals?--- In checking the current bus map, I see that my old PCC route called Smith-Coney Island has gone bye-bye, combined with an Red Hook (Ikea) route from downtown to the site of the Ninth Avenue barn, maybe an improvement for riders in previous underserved regions. |
