The IND Fulton Street Line is extended from Broadway - East New York to Euclid Avenue The first time I rode that stretch eastbound in the late '60s the entire length was timed with two-shot timers. Yes, there are turns both before and after Liberty Av, but the timers went all the way to Euclid Av, including the long straight track after the last turn past Liberty Av. There were no timers in the westbound direction, with those same two turns. Were those eastbound timers there from day 1 in 1948? Why were they deemed necessary? Nowadays there are some westbound timers too, but not the whole length. |
