I know that the 38th St station, on the 6th Ave el, was opened in 1914, after pressure form the local businesses.And that's also why the 6th Ave IND has that long, now disused passageway from 34th to 42nd. Building a stop at 38th would have made no sense, so instead there was an entrance at 38th to placate the merchants. It entered onto the passageway. |
