I don’t understand the economics of crew reduction. Two men can move 200 containers, so each container requires 1/100 people. You save so little.

In contrast, in trucking one man moves one container. So cutting that to zero merits huge investment in technology. But for trains, other investments seem more worthwhile, like double tracking to increase capacity ten fold.
