Do It Once and all that.Supposedly that would require raising other bridges on the line. I don't understand all the dynamics of a freight train, but you'd think that a train moving at 25 mph could handle, say, a 3% grade totaling a whole thirty inches. Streetcars (e.g. in Boston) run up and down hills that are uncomfortable to walk, and have done so since WWI. Streetcares ain't freight trains, but Shirley a 30" rise could be handled over a hundred yards horizontal, especially considering that only a fraction of the train would be on the little incline. Replace adjacent bridges with grade crossings, The one to the southeast 390', the one to the northwest is 1,300' You will have to triple that 100 yards to allow for the vertical curves.
