I believe that the middle tks of the IND Rockaway Line have been totally abandoned. back in the early 1990s, I was at a GO meeting with representatives of other NYCTA departments and one of the supts from MOIW was saying that upper management was talking abandonment of any tracks that did not get 24/7 usage. He was of course from some other "Toonerville Trolley” transit system and obviously not familiar with the flexibility that the number of tracks in NY provides. |
