It isn't just a matter of whether it fits-- it's also a matter of whether the existing abutments are sound. There's only so much that one can see without actually removing the old bridge. I can imagine removing the old bridge to discover that the abutments need more help than can be accomplished in two days-- and then it isn't just a matter of putting back the old bridge until repairs can be made.
