Whereas the Rockaway line, which you did not mention in your second system of pie in the sky money pits, at least would have a clear purpose and an actual ridership if rail was relaid there.The Rockaway Beach Line is another project that duplicates existing service. It would increase the percentage of Queens residents within 1/2 mile of a subway stop from 47.3% to 47.9%. It would have no effect of providing closer service for residents currently at 1.25 or more miles from a subway stop. That percentage would remain 74.7%. |
