Newer tunnels would be built with knowledge that people in the past did not have - thus flooding would be anticipated and steps to control that should be put in place. With the East River bridges aging as they are, at some point in time a replacement for them should be in the works - look at the Tappan Zee Bridge - it was replaced, so what about the Williamsburg or the Manhattan ? The Acropolis in Greece is still standing after about 3000 years, but nobody in their right mind goes inside.... |
