A few weeks before beginning seventh grade, I was enjoying a visit to my aunt, uncle, and cousins in Torrington, Connecticut, where I had the thrill of using a bicycle. One night, however, I was upstairs attempting to sleep while Uncle read downstairs, smoked his pipe, and listened to a music station that carried hourly headlines. Each hour I heard that buses replaced the V car on the Williamsbridge route.--- In that era, the northern terminus was Gun Hill Road, falling short of Williamsbridge. |
