I remember all of that! Beginning in the summer of 1956 through 1961, my great-aunt used to take me to Rockaway Park, because I loved the beach there.
We would walk down Pennsylvania Ave from Jamaica Av/New Jersey Ave.
At Liberty Ave, we took the "A" train to Euclid Ave and made a cross platform transfer to the "HH". The highlight of my trip was looking down at the junction of the former Fulton St el. I had been lucky enough to have rode that el from Atlantic Ave or Eastern Pkwy (weekends), a few weeks before it closed in April, 1956. Nobody had told me that the old el would be demolished, starting in Jan, 1958.
As I passed the former junction during the summer of 1958, all I could see was about a 100 foot stub, stripped and abandoned.
