I was wondering if maybe the photo might have been taken on a non-electrified section of trackage in either CI*(?) or 36th St, or maybe in E. NY?

It may have. I assumed since the car looks brand new, the photo would have been taken at the builder's plant.

CI* as we know it was a Dual Contracts project correct? Was there any extant BRT yard trackage or inspection / repair shed in this area, or did it not exist yet and all serious maintenance done in E. NY? Thank you!

CI means Coney Island Yard/Shops ? I do know that Coney Island Shops was built for the D Types.
