The angle between the two branches in Hicksville is somewhat larger as well, which would make a wye easier to construct. It would be nice if a Port Jefferson train could be rerouted via Babylon, especially if electrification is extended past Huntington (and on the Central Branch). It would be a much longer route, but at least it would be an alternative. I really didn't think a wye in Bethpage or Babylon was practical on account of the tight angle. |
