When they abandoned Myrtle, when they abandoned 3rd Avenue Bronx, they claimed that the replacement buses would be nicer, run more frequently, and generally be a better service.

Here's the replacement for the Myrtle Ave el....behold....the B-54. Myrtle & Jay St (April 1971)
