The 75 foot cars have an axle load that is about 3800 Lbs greater, nearly 20% more than the 60' cars of the same era. That gave the cars a more stable ride. In addition, having 8 group switch boxes as opposed to 10 on a train of 60' cars, there was less mismatch in acceleration rates which means less bucking between cars. |
