There was a now-long-ago-removed mezzanine there, which was before my time, and there was an employee-only exit to the shop complex during my time (1980s - 1990s) railfanning, and then that became the exit SubwayNut describes during the Stillwell rebuild. I don't recall for certain if the employee-only exit had stairs to the ground, but I am inclined to say it did. My stronger impression is of an odd (to me) walkway linking the platform with the second or third floor of the building on the corner and there being a pair of ratty looking doors painted in that stock bluish-greenish-grayish MTA paint.NOTE: being a young railfan at the time, and it having been long before the internet era, my recollections and interpretations of what I saw 25+ years ago might be faulty. ~AJK |
