Re: ACRL delayed reopening to trains

Posted by Nilet on Sun Dec 16 03:31:56 2018, in response to ACRL delayed reopening to trains, posted by TransitChuckG on Wed Dec 12 12:09:25 2018.

So, um, does anyone have any actual evidence that the ACRL isn't going to reopen? Because the linked article doesn't even mention a delay; it says that the ACRL was scheduled to reopen in early 2019 and is still scheduled to reopen in early 2019, but NJT has yet to name a specific date this far in advance, which is hardly unprecedented.

The article mentions a bunch of people speculating that the line won't reopen, but neither it nor any of the people likewise speculating in this thread have offered any actual evidence.

Considering the extensive maintenance and upgrades that have been performed on it, the relatively abundant ridership, the fact that New Jersey finally has a government relatively supportive of transit, and the political climate nationwide trending towards transit construction rather than transit abandonment, it seems all but certain that the line will reopen within a politician's idea of on schedule— not necessarily right on time, but within some semblance of it.
