Very astute.I once met with a "motorman" who intentionally sought to mislead me after I asked him a few questions. Later that evening, I askes my dad the very same questions and he gave me the answers I was lookinng for. Told him about the situation from earlier,and he responded with this.. "Some employees resent the general public,especially railbuffs or train nerds.His lie was his way of telling you to mind your own business." And...you know what? Ive seen enough of this behavior to know its fact. Had a kid on my bus one day...an early trip... Kid sat right up front...Being a fan..I knew he wanted to sit there with his mom,so I moved my bag so they could use the seats. It was non stop yammering from then on until he took a nap. Questions and more questions. It irritated the heck out of me but I understood,being a fan that actually got to operate a coach. He asked... Answered the best I could...he was satisfied...so was I. No more questions. One thing I can be thankful for...he managed to engage me enough to keep me from getting "tunnel vision" and boredom. |
