There aren’t enough board crews to fill in for all contingencies. If a board crew is used to cover a run due to a last minute absence, then that crew becomes unavailable for anything else. One day I was assigned the 500AM board job at Bed Pk and as soon as I signed in, the T/D told me that the train on the stand was mine to go. Once I was assigned to that run, it became my day’s work and removed me from being able to cover any other runs or trips for the rest of the day. |
