It would have been called the "Metropolitan Transportation Center." The tracks and platforms would have fit under the street itself, but office buildings would have been built along 3rd Avenue providing access, along with passages to Grand Central and to the SAS 48th Street station.The connection to Grand Central would be via a north end connection, which was ultimately built in the 1990s. |
