If I remember correctly, the situation involving the Manhattan Bridge led to eventually the (D) having to run to Essex, go onto the Willy B for about 20 feet or so and then have the trains reverse direction to head to the Nassau line and Montague to continue to Brooklyn for much of the rest of 1982 and '83 before going to more of the split setup that has been common when the Manny B has been out for extended periods since then.
