Service on the north side of the bridge was discontinued immediately. QB and RR (Nassau St) service was suspended and D trains were re-routed to the south side of the bridge and ran to 57 Street via the Broadway Subway. The B was split into two sections one running only between 168 Street and West 4 Street and another between 36 Street and Coney Island. Normal service was resumed on May 29.
